While schools are closed and children are spending more time at home, you may need some inspiration for new things to incorporate into the day. Houston Ballet staff share ideas for activities to do with your kids at home!
Dance it Out
Find time for fun physical activities. Take an online movement class with your little one, like the class below led by Houston Ballet Academy Instructor, Michele Dement.
Play a Game
Games are loads of fun for the whole family! Pull out those old board games, or even a deck of cards. ECE Program Manager, Lauren Anderson loves playing UNO with her son!

Take the Stage
Turn your living room into a theater or dance floor to showcase your family’s performing arts skills. ECE Administrative Associate, Alex Garza suggests recreating a short scene from your favorite show or book. You can even experiment with choreography. Take a short poem, create movement for each word and dance to different types of music. You and your kids will be the stars of the show!
Get Creative
Create a masterpiece with your children. Try your hand at origami or pull out the crayons and colored pencils for a good old-fashioned coloring session.
Storytime
Storytime is great for any time of day but can also be reserved to end a long day with a good book and snuggles. Houston Ballet Academy Lower School Principal and Children’s Ballet Master, Beth Everitt shares one of her favorite bedtime stories below!
