It’s that time of the year again! Our annual outdoor performances are back, and this year we’re thrilled to share Stanton Welch’s Madame Butterfly for free at both the Cynthia Woodlands Mitchell Pavilion on May 5 at 8 pm and at the Miller Outdoor Theatre through May 12-14 at 8 pm. Performances at Miller will also include Welch’s one-act contemporary ballet, Son of Chamber Symphony.

You can learn more about these free performances on our website, the Woodlands website, and the Miller website.

Madame Butterfly was gloriously featured during this 2016/17 season in September. Based on the opera with a magnificent score by Giacomo Puccini, in an arrangement by John Lanchbery OBE, Madame Butterfly tells the love story of a beautiful Geisha, Cio-Cio San, and a handsome American, Lieutenant Pinkerton.

Son of Chamber Symphony was also part of our 16/17 season, triumphantly opening for Madame Butterfly in September. This deconstruction of classical ballet is set to music by John Adams.

Following our Germany tour and a brief vacation, the company is back and ready for action in Houston! So be sure to catch all your favorites at these two beautiful venues and enjoy the Houston weather outside during these next two weekends.

Stay tuned for more about our final ballets of the 16/17 season, David Bintley’s The Tempest and Stanton Welch’s La Bayadère.
